While others stumble upon the UAE’s tech scene by chance, Eibrahym Sultan had been watching it closely for years. He saw the region’s drive to become a global innovation hub, particularly in areas like AI, blockchain, and quantum technologies. His long-held interest set the stage for joining QuantumGate as its Director of Growth just before the startup launched in 2024.

Raised in the U.K., Eibrahym had always gravitated toward technology. After beginning his career as an engineer, he quickly discovered a passion for the commercial side of technology, especially customer-facing roles where he could help innovative startups find product-market fit and scale globally. Now he’s channeling that energy into one of the region’s most promising cybersecurity ventures.

Eibrahym specializes in bringing new cutting edge products to market and scaling them across teams, territories, and revenue streams. As the driving force behind QuantumGate’s go-to-market strategy, he also manages sales, presales, product marketing, and the commercial roadmap.

QuantumGate specializes in post-quantum cryptography (PQC), helping organizations prepare for the risks that quantum computing will bring. The bulk of Eibrahym’s work at this stage is centered on raising awareness and education, especially explaining why moving to post-quantum cryptography is urgent and how encrypted data could be stolen today and unlocked later when quantum computers become mainstream.

Eibrahym has over 20 years of experience in tech startups and cybersecurity, including four years at Barracuda in Singapore. But the UAE was always at the back of his mind.

“What really caught my attention is how quickly and ambitiously its tech scene is developing,” he said. “It’s not just expanding; it’s transforming faster than almost any other place I’ve seen.”

That energy matched Eibrahym’s appetite for fast growth and frontier technologies. “I’ve always gravitated toward early-stage companies,” he says. “Series A, Series B, where there’s a product, some traction, and a need to scale. That’s where I thrive.”

Eibrahym sees post-quantum cryptography has a critical field to develop ahead of the emergence of quantum computers, which are likely to become the norm within the next decade.

“A lot of people think, ‘We don’t use quantum computers, so we’re okay.’ But the threat is already here,” Eibrahym points out. “Data is being intercepted right now and could be decrypted tomorrow. Our job is to inform—not to scare people, but to help organizations start taking action now.”

He’s quick to emphasize that QuantumGate isn’t about fear tactics. Instead, the company focuses on helping businesses navigate a rapidly changing world. Recent breakthroughs in quantum computing, such as error-free calculations and faster development times, are shifting how companies perceive the threat. Eibrahym has noticed a marked shift in his clients' attitudes even over the past few months, moving from skepticism to taking real action.

“There’s a race heating up,” he says. “Once people grasp what’s at stake, they want to act, and fast.”

Eibrahym, also, has big plans for the region. He believes the UAE’s tech scene, while still developing compared to places like Silicon Valley or London, is on its way to becoming a global leader.

“The groundwork here is already world class,” he says. “Places like the Cryptography Research Center at the Technology Innovation Institute are doing work that can compete with the best in the world. And that’s just the start.”

He predicts that within five years, Abu Dhabi will be one of the most recognized tech hubs in the world—not just in cybersecurity, but across a diverse set of advanced tech sectors.

“I wanted to be part of that story,” Eibrahym says. “And now that I’m here, I can see just how big it’s going to be.”
